Bucks looking into possibility of lending Blades’ young guns

Martin McIntosh has revealed he may try and use the club’s recent link-up with Sheffield United to full advantage as the new season approaches.

The Buxton manager says that the association between the two sides could lead to him persuading some of the best talent to roll off the Bramall Lane production line to making temporary switches to the Silverlands.

Ahead of the friendly meeting between the Bucks and the Blades’ academy side this Saturday (3pm), McIntosh outlined the reasoning behind the partnership.

He said: “I went over to Sheffield recently to see Nick Cox (United’s academy director) and we talked about the link-up and what it means for both clubs.

“It gave me a chance to watch their youngsters train and also see the facilities they’ve got over there.

“Perhaps it will mean we can get access to loan some of their youngsters.

“It’s certainly a possibility and something we will be looking at.”

McIntosh recently stated that his top priority was to sign up an additional centre-half.

During pre-season Tim Ryan has partnered Ash Palmer but McIntosh added: “I’m looking for another (centre-half) because I know I need three over the season.”
