Everything you need to know about High Peak Remembrance services

Across the borough there will be parades, services of remembrance and minutes of silence as people across the High Peak remember those lost in conflict.

Michael Hilton, one of the organisers of Buxton’s annual remembrance service and parade, on Sunday, November 8, said: “Prior to the service, at 10.35am, on The Slopes there will be a parade, under the control of Sergeant Major Jacob Skidmore.

“The Parade will be led by Fairfield (Buxton) Brass Band, from Buxton Market Place to the Cenotaph, consisting of Regular Troops, Cadet Groups, Emergency Services, Scouts and others - those groups will fall out to their usual places near the Cenotaph. The parade will be followed by the Civic Parade from the Town Hall with The British Legion, our Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Louise Potter, Deputy Mayor of High Peak – Cllr. Payge Hacking, Exec Director of HPBC – Mark Trillo and Councillors.”

The Car Park at the Slopes side of the Town Hall, will be closed for the preparation of parades, and until after the service.

“After the two minutes, as the buglers play Reveille, Terrace Road will be opened again for a little while.”
