Three High Peak play parks opens after £250,000 revamp
High Peak residents are celebrating the completion of three fully refurbished community play areas following a £250,000 investment by the Borough Council.
Delivered through the Council’s Play Investment and Delivery Plan, the spaces have all been improved and now offer modern equipment, enhanced accessibility, and improved recreational opportunities.
Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, deputy leader and executive councillor for regeneration, tourism and leisure, said: “Parks and play areas are a huge priority for this Council, and we’ve been putting real investment behind that commitment.”
Outdoor fitness equipment has also been installed at one site to encourage healthy lifestyles and wellbeing for people of all ages.

The Leader of the Council, Councillor Anthony McKeown, said: “It’s great to see our investment plans leap off the page from strategy to reality with these improvements to local play areas.
The three Gamesley sites Edale Close, Centurion, and Cottage Lane have now reopened.
Councillor Greenhalgh, “We know Gamesley’s play areas have been crying out for some TLC, so I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve been able to give not just one, but all three a fantastic make-over in one big bang.
“That’s £250,000 invested in better places for local children and families to enjoy.

“Add to that our support for the brilliant community-led work at the Roman Gardens, and it’s a really exciting time.”
He added: “A massive thank you to the local residents, community groups, and primary schools who helped shape these improvements through our extensive engagement. It’s fantastic to see that investment making a real difference, and I can’t wait to see these modern, inclusive, attractive spaces buzzing with families enjoying them.”
