£30,000 for High Peak Community Arts to help young people make music
A new music project will help young people across the High Peak get into music thanks to a £30,000 grant.
High Peak Community Arts has been awarded the money by the Youth Music Charity.
A charity spokesperson said: “We’re thrilled we’ve been awarded £30,000 in funding from the Youth Music Charity to launch an exciting new project, New Routes into Music.”
The project will create bold, non-traditional pathways into music for young people aged 13–25.

It will be led by young people themselves, and is designed to reach those who are often excluded from traditional music routes.
High Peak Community Arts provides opportunities for people to participate in high quality creative arts projects.
They focus on those with the least access to the arts and culture and believe that the arts can be a tool for change in people’s lives.
The charity works to break down the barriers to participation in the arts, including geographic location, lack of resources, disability or other personal or social circumstances.
Their youth work enables young people to engage and participate in creative arts activities; with a commitment to Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which calls the charity to give young people the opportunity to express their views, and see those views acted on.
The youth work at High Peak Community Arts is gaining recognition and it has been awarded the Silver level Hear By Right award by the National Youth Agency and it is an Arts Award Delivery Centre.
Speaking about the new funded project a High Peak Community Arts spokesperson said: “With the support of our partners, we’ll grow a vibrant creative network and launch the Inner Jam Digital Music Resource Hub — a free, inspiring online space for music-making.
“Huge thanks to the Youth Music Charity and Arts Council of England for making this possible.”
The Youth Music Charity said: “We believe that every young person deserves the chance to transform their life through the power of music.”
Arts Council of England added: “We help people in every corner of the country to experience and benefit from creativity. “We do this by investing in artists and organisations that make and deliver exceptional, inspirational work for our communities.”
