Peak District pub managers stepping down to pursue ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity

The team behind a Peak District pub will be leaving at the end of November for a new adventure.

The Greyhound in Warslow is managed by Lee and Jenni Wilson-Hart.

The much-loved couple who have even appeared on Channel 4’s Four In A Bed TV show announced they would be leaving the Leek Road site at the end of November.

Lee said: “Following an unexpected business opportunity that we simply cannot refuse, we have made the difficult but exciting decision to step down from The Greyhound Inn at the end of November.

“This certainly hasn’t been an easy decision.

“The Greyhound has been such a huge part of our lives, and Warslow has become so much more than just a place to run a business. It has been a journey filled with hard work, challenges, laughter, friendships and memories that we will carry with us forever.” The duo opened the pub after lockdown in 2020 and since then have gone on to be named as Camra’s Pub of the Season in 2020, and made it into the Good Beer Guide in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

The Greyhound is also home to Wilson’s of Warslow micro brewery which Lee set up with his dad.

Lee said: “Over the years, we have met some absolutely wonderful people, made lifelong friends, gained incredible opportunities and created memories that will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

“From the locals who have supported us from day one to the visitors who have travelled from far and wide, every single one of you has played a part in our story.”

Lee says running a pub is never a one-person job, and we couldn't have achieved what they have without the people who have worked alongside them, supported them through the busy times, pulled together during the difficult days and helped make The Greyhound what it is today.

He said: “The Greyhound is still growing, and there is so much more we had hoped to achieve here.

“In fact, we were in the process of buying the pub ourselves, which makes this decision all the more significant.

“But sometimes, life presents you with an opportunity that comes along once in a lifetime, and you have to be brave enough to take it.”

The duo say they will be revealing their new venture when the time is right.

“We have given the Greyhound everything we have over the years, working hard to build something special, overcome challenges and put this wonderful village pub firmly on the map.

“We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved and the part we have played in its story and rebuilding its heritage.

“Although it is with a heavy heart that we prepare to leave, we also look forward to the next chapter and the opportunities that lie ahead.”

He added: “Pubs are built with bricks and mortar, but it is the people who walk through the doors who make them special. And that is what we will remember most about The Greyhound.”

Any genuine enquiries for the purchase of a freehold can be directed to Lee, but must be done in person.
