The visitors started well and had a number of chances to open the scoring in the first 20 minutes.

Tom Bailey, Dave Young and Chris Hirst, making his first start, all had efforts that threatened to open the scoring.

However, it wasn’t long before North End did make it 1-0. Hirst’s cross found Nathan Neequaye whose well-placed shot flew just inside the far post to open the scoring.

GNE had opportunities to increase their lead as the half continued but to no avail and the home side gradually worked their way back into the match.

Armthorpe started the second half brightly and were back in the tie when Callum Smith cut into the penalty area only to be brought down by Alex Byrne

Jonathan Mirfin stepped up to take the resulting spot kick and converted well, giving Proctor no chance, to level the scores.

The home side were having another good spell and GNE needed to respond quickly and they did.

Five minutes later Lee Morris danced his way past several defenders just outside the penalty box and beat Watson with a fine shot just inside his near post to restore the lead.

As the 90 minute mark passed it looked like a narrow win for Glossop, but there was still time to give a convincing feel to the scoreline.

First, Bailey nodded home with ease just inside the area before he turned creator when, straight from the re-start, his cross from the right was met with a fine header by Neequaye.
