Storm Austen: Met Office issues weather warning ahead of Storm Austen hitting Derbyshire - with strong winds set to arrive
Derbyshire residents are being warned by the Met Office to brace for Storm Austen - with strong winds hitting the county tomorrow.
A yellow weather warning for wind has been issued by the Met Office for Derbyshire between 10.00am and 9.00pm tomorrow (Friday, October 23) - as Storm Austen hits the area.
Whilst the winds across the warning area are not expected to be as strong as those further south and west, a spell of inland gales is possible - with gusts of around 45mph to 55mph expected to arrive on Friday.
In combination with local heavy rain and many trees still being in full leaf, there is potential for some power outages and travel disruption.
Some short-term loss of power and other services is possible. Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are likely.
Bus and train services may be affected, with some journeys taking longer as a result of the inclement weather.
It is likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
