Investment for Peak village pipes

Residents in the Peak village of Little Longstone are set to benefit from a £260,000 investment to make their water supply more reliable.

The pipes are currently in a state of disrepair, with regular leaks causing interruptions in the water supply for many residents.

Gareth Mead, spokesman for Severn Trent Water, said: “We want to make sure our customers continue to receive a reliable water supply... so we’re investing £260,000 to install around two miles of new water pipes in the area.”

The project will get underway in early January and will last until April.

The affected piping starts from the junction of the Monsal Head Hotel on the B6465 and will work through Little Longstone along Main Street to the junction of Moor Road in Great Longstone.

Gareth added that the work will require road
closures.

He said: “We know this work could cause some disruption for the local community, and we’ve been working hard to find the best way of doing the work with the minimum
impact.”
