The scheme is being funded by the council, which is contributing £41,000, together with Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottingham City Council, Derby City Council, Rushcliffe Borough Council, Nottingham’s Creative Quarter Company, East Midlands Chamber and the European Regional Development Fund.

A further £1.1m ‘Invest in D2N2’ project has been launched with £90,000 from the council to attract businesses and promote the county as a place to invest.

Council leader Anne Western said: “Building a strong Derbyshire economy is one of our top priorities and small businesses play a key role in making our economy tick.

“We know times are tough for small businesses and they may be nervous about taking that next step to expand and grow. That’s why we’re working with partner organisations to provide the necessary support and funding to give local businesses a leg-up and set them off on the road to creating more jobs across the county.”
