McIntosh pulled off a coup when he persuaded veteran stopper Andy Warrington to sign on at the Silverlands.

The 37-year-old was a key part of Rotherham United’s promotion-winning League Two squad in 2012/13 but took the surprise decision to drop down to the Evo-Stik Premier.

His understudy this season is set to be academy graduate John Stanway, who in contrast to Warrington is at the very beginning of his career, aged 18.

The youngster has been part of the hugely successful Bucks under-19s, which this season is set to compete in the top tier of the North Midlands League.

More recently he featured for the senior side during the pre-season match against Nottingham Forest.

McIntosh says that he has high hopes for Stanway.

He said: “John is still only young, especially for a goalkeeper, but he’s got so much ability.

“As I say he’s still very young but we have extremely high hopes for him at this club.”

Warrington has over 400 career appearances under his belt and as such is expected to be able to provide a wealth of knowledge for Stanway to call upon.
