Loanee Jack is up for the Cup

Buxton have been given a welcome boost ahead of the FA Cup tie at Prescot Cables, with the news that Jack Broadhead’s loan has been extended.

The 18-year old initially joined the Bucks on a month’s loan from parent club Chesterfield on the opening day of the campaign.

This week that deal was extended, up to and including the trip to Whitby Town on November 16, with the youngster also being made eligible for the first round qualifying tie at Prescot this weekend.

Broadhead, whose only senior appearance for the Spireites came in last season’s FA Cup, recently said: “The management at Chesterfield said they’ve been happy with me and my form since coming here.

“To be honest I don’t think I’m going to get much time there this season as they’re pushing for promotion.

“I get on well with all the lads at Buxton and they’re a good bunch.”

The news will be a welcome boost to manager Martin McIntosh who was potentially facing a shortfall in centre-backs had the loan not been extended.

Spencer Harris joined up with the squad last week but McIntosh revealed that the player is only on a non-contract basis at parent club Guiseley and therefore he could not say with any confidence how long he would remain at the Silverlands.

Veteran Tim Ryan has also been missing from the first-team picture since going off injured against Ilkeston last month, whilst in the following game against Whitby Broadhead went off injured with an ankle knock.
