Standing at an imposing 6’4”, Budtz arrives at Silverlands from National League North side Gainsborough Trinity.

He was a regular in Trinity’s first team during the last three seasons either side of a spell with Worksop Town.

Bucks boss Martin McIntosh has long admired the experienced keeper and was delighted with the capture.

Budtz is Buxton’s first Danish player. He played for B 1909 Odense and F.C.Nordsjaelland in his homeland.

He joined Doncaster Rovers in 2005 and made a memorable debut in a Carling Cup tie.

With Andy Warrington, himself a future Buxton keeper, injured, Budtz went on as substitute and saved the penalties which contributed to Manchester City’s defeat and earned him Sky Sports’ man-of-the-match award.

As well as playing later for Hartlepool, he had loan spells with Wolves and then Oldham Athletic before moving into non-league with Eastwood Town and Stalybridge Celtic.

Meanwhile, centre-back Greg Young has put pen to paper for his third season at Silverlands and wide man Niall Doran has signed on for his second season with the Bucks.

Nicky Walker and Ricky Ravenhill have already re-signed.

The club expect more of last season’s players to re-sign as well soon, while another new man has already agreed terms.
