First pics of revamp work at Buxton Hub Fitness & Sports Centre
Demolition and work on the new cafe is underway at Buxton Hub Fitness & Sports Centre as the first picture of the major revamp project has been released.
Earlier this year the Buxton Advertiser reported the sports centre in Harpur Hill had been purchased.
Now at the end of July the first update on the project has been put out.
The team said: “We are happy to finally be able to say that all the ownership paperwork has gone through and we are now starting work on wall demolition and the cafe.

“There is still a lot of work to go, but we are working really hard to get the gym and cafe up and running for you all alongside the sports hall.
“We are so excited to see this come together and to give this to the community.
“Thank you all for being so patient with us.”
Speaking earlier in the year the team said they were ‘really excited about this’ project for the two-acre site on Trenchard Drive.
“This one is a step to the side but it is still in the hospitality and leisure sector and I’m excited to create a new brand and give back to the community by providing gym memberships and sports hire that are affordable.”
Currently the site offers facilities for badminton, basketball, yoga, Pilates, judo, and netball.
The team said previously that when the sports centre relaunches it will have a brand new gym facility with multi-level memberships, a full-size basketball court hire as well as indoor cricket nets, badminton, table tennis and volleyball.
There will be pickleball courts and rock climbing facilities and padel courts.
There will be classes and training sessions too including spin, dance fitness, martial arts programmes as well as pole fitness.
A community-led café, restaurant and bar will also be opening in the centre.
Speaking about how work is progressing the Hub added: “The demolition zones are obviously looking a little bit messy. We have our sheets up to contain the dust so classes can still continue.”
