Five things to do this Bank Holiday


Here’s our short list of five things to do:
1. Clumber Park
Now that the Olympics has finished why not try your hand at a number of sporting activities. Pop along to the front field at Clumber Park and challenge your friends to a shoot out on the archery range, a volleyball game or a game of football, tennis, badminton or table tennis. 2. Bolsover Castle
If playing sport is not your forte, then watching magnificent knights on horseback clash at Bolsover Castle might take your fancy instead.

3. Southwell Music Festival
The popular annual classic music festival takes place every August Bank Holiday (Thursday to Monday).
The idea behind the event it to promote the town and inspire young musicians.

4. Matlock Farm Park

Hide AdHead along to Matlock Farm Park on Saturday (August 27) to meet Mark Anglesea, a two-time Guiness World Record holder. Watch him in action as he uses all his strength to pull along a farm tractor. And if you’re feeling really brave, you may also get the chance to challenge him to a game of tug-of-war as well as photo opportunuities and a Q&A. Tractor pull at 11.30am and 2.30pm, with tug-of-war, Q&A and photo opportunities in between.

5. Southwell Racecourse
The Field Dog Fairs event will include up to 150 stalls on the day, as well as an outside antiques market. Dogs are welcome. Food and beverages will be on offer to purchase throughout the day, including the Newfield Dairy mobile ice cream parlour. (August 27-29). Public admission: 9.30am-4pm.
