Officers patrol High Peak village following series of break-ins

There was a police presence in a High Peak village earlier this week following a string of break-ins where bikes were stolen.

Officers in hi-vis and plain clothes carried out patrols in Chinley in the evening on Wednesday, January 6 after a series of burglaries in the area in which bikes were taken.

PC Wright, PCSO Green and Sgt Harrison from the Buxton Police Neighbourhood Team, alongside a response team, kept watch by walking around the area in the dark in an attempt to deter further thefts.

In a post on Facebook, the force said: “A combination of hi-vis and plain clothes foot patrols tonight in Chinley following recent break-ins, where bikes were taken.

"From SNT we have PC Wright and PCSO Green patrolling and Sgt Harrison in plain clothes. This is in addition to group 2 response team, who are also paying attention to the area.

"It’s a cold one...minus 3 apparently!

"Nevertheless we’re out trying to prevent offences and catch criminals!”
