Pupils at a Buxton school have taken part in a Book in a Box competition.

As part of their World Book Day celebrations, Fairfield Endowed Junior School launched the competition as part of their drive to promote reading for pleasure.

Children were asked to use their imagination and creative skills to present their favourite book in a box.

The bar was set extremely high with the prize on offer being a golden coin, used to choose a book from the school’s reading vending machine as well as a reading gives us wings butterfly badge.

Winning boxes included Diagon Alley from the Harry Potter books; Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs as well as The Cat in the Hat.

Mrs Hewson, the school’s Literacy Co-ordinator said: “So much effort has been put into the competition by the children who have really excelled themselves with their creativity and book knowledge. They are simply amazing!”
