Shannon Tarrant, from Skin by SRT, is a 2024 finalist for best new salon in the Beauty and Skincare Awards UK.
The 22-year-old said: “I’m living my dream now, I wanted this and made it happen and I’ve honestly never been happier and I’m so proud of myself for taking the leap and giving it a go.

Hide Ad“I used to be a dental nurse but it was never a career just a job.


“So I took a course in facials last year and started doing it on the side and found I really enjoyed it and gave me a passion I hadn’t felt for a while.”
She is very active on social media and quickly grew a client base.
Just months later she had given up working as a dental nurse and was working full time offering facials.

Hide AdShannon was working from her grandparents conservatory but in June she decided to take the plunge and open her beauty clinic.


She said: “My family thought I was moving too fast too soon but I knew the time was right.
“Since then I’ve done more training and I’m so busy - I’ve got clients from Stockport and Manchester coming to see me. It's all very surreal that it has happened this quickly.”
Shannon offers derma facials, chemical peels and is an acne specialist .

Hide AdShe said: “About a month ago I took another course in glass facials and I have gained around 30 new clients which is amazing.


“I think I’m doing so well because I don’t just show my products and the results on my social media I show me, the person behind the treatments.
“My clients get to know me so when they come and see me they feel like they already know me.”
Speaking about the award Shannon said: “It was self nominated so I put myself forward and you had to submit pictures and customers reviews.
“I never thought it would go any further but I’ve made it to the finals which is amazing.”
She will find out the results of the award in November.
