Review: John Suchet presents The Last Waltz at Buxton Opera House
John Suchet who fronts the flagship morning programme Classic FM, joined the orchstra to present a truly enchanting evening entitled The Last Waltz.
He recited the fascinating stories of some of the best loved music of the 19th century. Two generations of the Strauss family who were steeped in tragedy and feud and yet wrote some of the most beautiful melodies of all time. The stories of the Viennese society and political chaos at the time were intriguing.

The Opera House was full for Saturday’s concert and the audience clearly enjoyed themselves; from the romantic Blue Danube Waltz to the delightful Tritsch-Tratsch.
As the evening came to an end many of the audience shouted for more. As John Suchet pointed out no Strauss concert is complete without an encore!
The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra returns to Buxton Opera House on Wednesday, November 9.
