They will now also play the O2 Academy Sheffield on Friday, April 29, ahead of the sold out dates of Saturday day, April 30 and Sunday May 1.

Tickets, on sale at 9am tomorrow - Saturday, January 30 - will be limited to four per person in a bid to try to stop ticket touting, says the band.

"The fan reaction to the comeback announcement was phenomenal, with 1000 pre-sale tickets selling out in under eight minutes," revealed frontman Joe Carnall, also bass player with Reverend and the Makers.

"I expected a bit of a buzz for nostalgia's sake but it seems as though the band are more relevant than ever right now".

Milburn are the band that famously inspired Alex Turner and his pals to form the Arctic Monkeys.

Now Joe is back with Milburn band mates Louis Carnall, Tom Rowley and Joe Green. They came close to smashing the national music scene and could be about to do it the second time around.

Footballer Joey Barton even tweeted his excitement to his 3.15 million followers when he heard about the comeback.

It's been ten years since Milburn's major label debut Well Well Well. Now the band, who kick started the Sheffield revival that gave birth to - amongst others - Arctic Monkeys and Reverend & The Makers, are back.

When Milburn parted company eight years ago, it seemed that they would be remembered only as an influence on more successful artists still to come. As a band's band with a critical, rather than a commercial, legacy, recalled in scrawlings on venue toilet walls rather than stars on walks of fame.

But over time it became clear that this music would not die, stubbornly refusing to take its place in the backwaters of Spotify. Instead the songs reached a new generation; spread by chants of 'Miiiilburn' at other band's gigs and a new thing called 'Socal Media'.

The Courteeners, Arctic Monkeys and even a One Direction-er fell over themselves to lavish praise on the defunct four-piece.

Now thanks to overwhelming public demand Sheffield's original heroes are back, headlining three massive shows in their hometown.
