A Chesterfield music producer and a classically-trained busker have teamed up to release a new song about the effects that the Covid-19 pandemic has had on loved ones forced apart.

Darfoulds' new song, I'll Be There, will be released on Friday, January 8, 2020.

The song, entitled ‘I’ll Be Waiting’, is a collaboration between producer Glenn Boulton and baritone singer Maxwell Thorpe and will be launched on January 8.

Glenn, who is releasing the song under the name of Darfoulds, said: “The song was inspired by a friend of mine Ivor Hillman (from Rotherham) during the first lockdown; he, along with others, wrote on Facebook an emotional post about not being able to see his grandkids and waiting for the day they can see their own children and grandchildren again.

"The song portrays being trapped in our own homes looking forward to being able to hug the people we love.”

Glenn composed the music and was helped by his wife, Hayley, to write the lyrics.

“This is my twelfth release since the start of September 2019,” said Glenn. “As always, there is an anxiety on how people will react to a new release, particularly as on this song it has someone else singing instead of my own voice. Also the genre is a little experimental being a mix of electronic and classical.”

Baritone singer Maxwell can be seen regularly performing classical favourites on the streets of Chesterfield and Sheffield. He met Glenn, a freelance music and video producer, during a video shoot for Carlisle Football Club.

‘I’ll Be Waiting’ will be available to stream on all platforms and will be accompanied by a new video on Darfoulds’ YouTube channel.
