WORLD OF SPORT: England snub Cipriani, Bolt coasts into 200m final, Milan get strict on Balotelli

England have opted to go into next month’s Rugby World Cup without Sale’s Danny Cipriani and almost certainly the 2013 Lion Alex Corbisiero. Cipriani will not feature when the 31-man squad is announced on Thursday while Corbisiero has been battling for weeks to convince the management he is fully fit for the tournament (Guardian).

Usain Bolt is through to the World Championships 200m final. The Jamaican never looked in any real trouble in Beijing as he cruised home in his semi-final with a time of 19.96 to setsup another showdown with two-time drug cheat Justin Gatlin, who won his semi-final with a time of 19.87. AC Milan have only agreed to sign Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli after the striker agreed to sign a strict code of conduct. This includes, toning down his hairstyles, wearing clothes ‘in keeping with Milan’ and cutting out smoking. (Liverpool Echo).

Super League club Castleford Tigers have suspended winger Justin Carney. The 27-year-old is the subject of an internal investigation, the details of which have not been disclosed. (BBC Sport).

Glamorgan’s head groundsman Keith Exton has been suspended as part of the club’s investigation into an ‘unfit’ pitch at Cardiff’s Swalec Stadium. A One-Day Cup match with Hampshire was abandoned on 2 August after two batsmen were struck by rising deliveries. Glamorgan were fined £9,000 - of which £5,000 is suspended - and docked points by the England and Wales Cricket Board. (BBC Sport).

Floyd Mayweather has defended his decision to face Andre Berto, insisting the challenger is never involved in a dull fight. The world’s No 1 fighter believes the man he has picked to face at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 12 will make sure they put on a show. (Sky Sports).
