Jason stands out in a hat-trick of race appearances

Jason Bennett’s purple patch continued to gather pace recently at the Bamford Carnival.

The 4.5 mile fell race, which has over 1,000 feet of climbing, saw Jason lead the Buxton contingent home in ninth place.

Meanwhile, at Teggs Nose, a 7.3 mile event with 1,700 feet of ascent, Jason again led the Buxton runners home, this time in 10th place.

Finally, in the seven-mile Cracken Edge race Jason was again the first Club runner home, this time coming home in 15th position.

Elsewhere, also at Bamford Carnival were a number of other Buxton members.

Pete Bailey posted a finish of 72nd, Ross Martland 105th, and Helen Brunt 128th respectively.

Darran Hawkins was 18th home at Teggs Nose, with Dave Forshaw coming home in 130th place overall.

There was a great Club turnout at Cracken Edge which saw a highly-respectable finish of 20th from Darran Hawkins, 94th for Richard Bouglas, 115th for Ross Martland, 148th for Frank Golden, 150th for Dave Forshaw, 168th by Mark Babington and in 178th place was Bev Golden.

Mark Halsey, meanwhile, competed at the longer distance at the Half Tour of Bradwell recently, which is a 16-mile course, starting and finishing at the village.

Mark covered the distance in 2 hours and 41 minutes and was 36th overall.

Several of the club’s youngsters took part in the Parwich Junior fell race, with Will Tighe finishing first in the Under-12 category.
