Horse-racing ‘Tip Of The Day’ — Wednesday January 2
Wednesday January 2
HALO MOON
Ayr 12.50 WIN
Top northern trainer Donald McCain has a handful of realistic chances of success today to boost his excellent strike-rate at Ayr. This cheaply-bought, four-year-old son of Kayf Tara is probably one of the least obvious, but he caught the eye when winning on his debut in a Bumper at Towcester a month ago, claiming the scalp of a warm favourite from the David Pipe yard. After travelling well and arriving on the scene on the bridle, he surged clear in the final 2f. He now switches to hurdles and although bred to stay much further than this minimum trip, the heavy ground should ensure a proper stamina test.
