Danny pips rivals to the post in three-way Armitt Cup showdown

Buxton and High Peak Golf Club’s prestigious competition, the Armitt Cup, went down to the wire with three competitors finishing level on scores.

The 36-hole event is one of the most decorated competitions that the club holds each year.

This year’s event ended in dramatic style, with a three-way tie occurring, meaning the trio had to be separated by their scores on the back 18 holes.

After all the totting up was done, Danny Gee was named as the winner.

Gee, Drue Turner and Steve Bailey all finished with scores of 138, but Gee took the honours thanks to his back 18 score of 66.

Turner (67) and Bailey (70) finished second and third respectively, by the tightest of margins.

Elsewhere, the scratch prize was claimed by David Brindley who posted a score of 149.
