Glossop North End have appointed Chris Willcock as their new first-team manager.

Willcock, who takes over the vacant hotseat following the departure of Garry Brown and Paul Williams, has managerial experience at Winsford United, Woodley Sports and Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Glossop North End Chairman Dave Atkinson said: “We had a good number of high-quality applicants, but Chris was considered to be the outstanding candidate and we are delighted that he has accepted the role.

“Myself and everyone at Glossop North End look forward to working with Chris to realise the ambition we all have for our club.”

Willcock, who is well-known in the area from his playing days at clubs such as Mossley, Rossendale and Salford City, added: “I am absolutely delighted to be given this opportunity by Glossop North End and I look forward to stepping up to the challenge of helping to make the club the force it should be in local non-league football.

“I will be looking to build a team that realises the potential seen in recent seasons, and give the supporters, and everyone involved in this historic club the success it deserves.”
