The fixture came about after the two clubs linked up earlier this summer in a mutual agreement.

Bucks manager Martin McIntosh recently stated that he was looking into the possibility of signing United youngsters on short-term loan deals.

The first half was devoid of many clear cut chances, despite both sides playing some attractive passing football.

Neil Stevens threatened the Blades’ keeper George Willis with a header in the early stages before a deflected Tim Ryan free-kick was dealt with by the young stopper.

The visitors, who gave a start to former Premier League defender Danny Higginbotham, then had their own chances in the first period with Jamie McDonagh shooting just wide of Andy Warrington’s goal.

McDonagh was again influential for the young Blades down the left and his shot on 52 minutes was the closest they came to scoring.

The introduction of Leon Osborne during the second half gave the Bucks a boost but neither side managed to break the deadlock as the game petered out.
