Styche joined the Bucks on Sunday and immediately outlined his desire to bang in the goals to help Buxton get promoted.

“I am excited to join the club,” he said. “After speaking to the manager and the chairman about the sort of signings they are making and wanting to win this league, it is a really good project to be a part of.

“Any player wants to know the main goal is to try and win trophies and leagues and to enjoy your football.

“That is the draw for me. After speaking to the manager, I want to be up there and I want to be competing in the squad and play with a smile on my face.

“I spoke to the manager and chairman for a long time who explained their vision for the club and what they want to do, it made it a no brainer to sign.

“Hopefully I can score the goals that get us up to the top of the table, that is my personal goal and my main goal is to get promoted.

“There is heavy investment going into the club, as having the artificial pitch shows, and it says a lot about the club.

“The pitch is something I am used to and it can give you an edge in our home games and we need to use that to our advantage.”

The ex Forest Green striker, who scored his first international goal on 18 November 2019 against Switzerland in a Euro 2020 qualifier, brings with him a wealth of experience.

And Styche (31), who has also played for Tamworth, Darlington, Alfreton Town, Kidderminster and Hereford, knows that his experience could be a key ingredient in Buxton’s quest for promotion.

He added: “Gary (Hayward) is making signings that have experience, when you are pushing for promotion you need that mix of experience and youth.

“The experience can help the youth coming through at the club to be successful. That can go a long way for us this season.

“I love playing on the shoulders of defenders and getting in behind or own the channels. I love running at people and creating chances for myself.

“I work hard and don’t give defenders a minutes piece. I don’t want to lose when I go on the pitch, no matter what.”
