Millers building towards new campaign despite three consecutive losses

New Mills AFC are busy finishing their preparations for the new season and have been getting match-fit with a number of friendlies.

In stark contrast to the previous week’s 8-3 thrashing of Cheadle Town, the Millers returned home to take on Glossop North End in a High Peak derby but were on the wrong end of the result.

Steve Moore and Tom Bailey got the goals for the visitors, before Kyle Harrop pulled one back for New Mills.

Despite that setback Roy Soule’s side went into the next game, last Saturday at home to AFC Fylde, confident of turning their fortunes around but couldn’t possibly have predicted an 6-1 reverse.

The Millers then fell to another defeat on Tuesday night when they made the short journey to Stockport Sports, going down 2-0.

Their first game of the new campaign is on Saturday, August 17 with the visit of Burscough.

Before that a Crewe Alexandra side visit Church Lane on Wednesday night.
