“The fans have stuck with us through thick and thin, they know we are ambitious as a club and I am sure they will come back.

“We would love to do well for them next season. Our football is real and people can get close to it.

“The players are engaging and there is nothing better than the NPL. I’m sure fans will want to come back to that.”

And seeing the public filling the Silverlands on match and non-match days is something that would fill the Buxton chief with plenty of joy.

“We have always had a strong community feel at the club, which was what drew me here in the first place,” added Hopkins.

“When I go to the ground on any night, it is busy - we have gone from a ground that was open on a matchday to a ground that has something going on every day.

“One Friday night I went to the ground and there must have been 200 kids playing, it was fantastic to see.

“There is excellent work engaging the youth teams in the town, the first team now train at the ground and there is a good partnership with the rugby club and the university as well - it is just fantastic.”

“We are looking to build on the foundations that have been put in place,” said Hopkins.

“We have proved over the last few years that we are prepared to invest in the club and facilities as a board.

“I’d like to think when it starts up again that current sponsors continue to engage with the club.”
