The 31-year-old’s regular season maybe over after the Bucks’ Northern Premier League campaign was curtailed, but he remains part of the Gibraltar squad involved in three matches this week.

Styche, who joined Buxton in the summer, made the most of being handed a start to face Montenegro.

After Fatos Beciraj had handed the hosts a 25th-minute lead, Styche levelled from the penalty spot to draw Gibraltar level before the break.

But while the goal – his second for his country – was a moment to celebrate personally at the Podgorica City Stadium, it was to little avail as Montenegro ran out 4-1winners, Marko Simic, Zarko Tomasevic and Stevan Jovetic putting the game out of Gibraltar’s reach with goals in the second half.

The goal was Styche’s second for Gibraltar.

His first finish came in a Euro 2020 qualifier against Switzerland in November 2019.

Styche was an unused substitute in last Wednesday’s 3-0 home defeat to Norway.

Gibraltar – currently bottom of Group G – host the Netherlands on Tuesday.
