The 22-year-old netted six times in five games after being converted into a striker... only for the North West Counties League First Division South season to come to an abrupt halt just as the club and player were hitting their stride.

Now the former Curzon Ashton man is wants to pick up where he left off when football is able to return.

"I signed to play as a midfielder and centre half, but one game a lad was injured and I was asked if I could play up front. I said 'yeah. I'll play anywhere'," Lowe said.

"Against Cammell Laird, I scored two that day. Ever since I've been up front.

"I think I might be looking at a new number next season."

Lowe won't be taking his goalscoring exploits for granted but, under the guidance of managers Dave Birch and Mike Norton - himself a prolific marksman with Curzon Ashton and FC United of Manchester - he hopes he can continue to progress.

"Mike scored hundreds of goals in non league and he's a good judge," Lowe added.

"He says if I get fitter I could score 20-30 next season.
