All the odds as England meet Wales

England will meet Wales tomorrow in Lens for the 102nd time although this will be their first meeting in a major tournament.

You have to go back to May 1984 for the last time the Welsh Dragon roared against The Three Lions but England, arguably, need the points more after their, ultimately, disappointing result against a poor Russian side on Saturday evening.

Roy Hodgson’s side are odds on at 11/20 to take all three points with the draw 14/5 and Wales 6/1 at BetVictor to make it back-to- back wins.

England have happy memories of Lens having beaten Colombia 2-0 there in the 1998 World Cup.

The debate post Russia seemed to focus largely on Harry Kane taking corners or not for England which seemed to deflect any criticism of the Spurs striker who played moderately in Marseille.

The Spurs striker did not have a single touch of the ball inside the Russian box in 90 minutes and we need more from our central striker.

I hope to see Daniel Sturridge at some time on Thursday in a game in which Wales are likely to sit back and try and hit England on the break.

Kane is 22/5 to open the scoring with Sturridge and Vardy 5s; I was screaming at the television, yes I had had a few, to get Jamie Vardy on and try and hit Russia on the counter after we’d gone one-up and I’m convinced Hodgson’s substitutions were poor.

If England score first, then I expect to see a comfortable win but the longer it stays at 0-0 the palms will get sweaty and Wales have a certain

The Real Madrid star didn’t have the best of games against Slovakia but he showed his world class in mpatches and he is 2/1 at BetVictor to score at anytime against England and a big looking 4/1 to score with his mighty left foot; that looks too big.

Bale is 17/2 to score with a header, 16s with his right foot and 19/2 from outside the box.

England have failed to score more than once in 13 of their last 14 matches at a major tournament which tempers confidence but if the two nations play to the best of their abilities then the Three Lions will win; but they don’t have Gareth Bale! England are 9/1 at BetVictor to lift the Trophy in

Paris on July 10th with Wales 66/1.

Everton finally got their man on Tuesday as Ronald Koeman was unveiled as new Everton manager; want-away Romelu Lukaku may not find it as easy as he and his agent imagined to get his Champions League football after his dreadful performance for Belgium against Italy on Monday.

That said the striker remains Evens to be playing back in the Blue of Chelsea next season (hardly Champions League though?) with PSG and Manchester United at 4/1; it will be interesting to see if Liverpool’s Divock Origi replaces Lukaku for Belgium’s game against the Republic of Ireland and I’m not convinced that Rom is actually a favourite with the Belgium fans.

The US Open starts at the famous Oakmount Country Club on Thursday and BetVictor are betting each way six places; Aussie Jason Day is likely to start favourite but he bores me rigid and is often referred to as Jason All Day such is the amount of time it takes him to play a shot.

I remain a massive Rory McIlroy fan and he will carry my each way cash at 7/1 and my second each way selection is another European Swede Henrik Stenson at 33/1 who has largely gone under the radar but this looks his type of course as he is a beautiful striker of a golf ball; if he has a decent week on the greens he must go close to that elusive first Major success.

Sweden and Northern Ireland were, arguably, the two most disappointing nations to have played in the opening games of Euro 2016; let’s hope their golfers on more on song.
