Derbyshire face uphill task to reach target against Gloucestershire

David Payne has given Gloucestershire a great chance of winning the rain affected LV County Championship Division Two match against Derbyshire at Derby.

Payne took two wickets, including that of the Sri Lankan batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan, after Derbyshire were set a victory target of 302 from a minimum of 80 overs and at lunch, they were struggling on 50-3 from 16 overs at lunch.

Following the loss of day three to the weather, Derbyshire declared on their overnight first innings of 77-2 and Gloucestershire added 49 in 14 overs to their lead of 252 to set the game up.

But Payne struck with the second ball of the innings by having Ben Slater LBW without scoring and after Chesney Hughes got a leading edge off Craig Miles to cover, Payne yorked Dilshan for six.
