Derbyshire dominate opening sessision against Lancashire

Derbyshire’s pace attack made full use of helpful conditions on a torrid morning for Lancashire’s batsmen at the 3aaa County Ground at Derby.

Wayne Madsen’s decision to put Lancashire in on a chilly overcast day was vindicated as the visitors struggled to 61 for 4 at lunch with Tony Palladino claiming two wickets.

Only Alviro Petersen with an unbeaten 26 and Ashwell Prince offered any prolonged resistance after Palladino had Paul Horton caught behind and Mark Footitt knocked out Luis Reece’s middle stump in the first five overs.
