Derbyshire begin new season at Trent Bridge

The first-class campaign, which commences on Saturday 1 August, will see Billy Godleman’s side compete in five regionalised behind closed doors matches as part of the North Group.

A first four-day encounter with Nottinghamshire since 2017 is followed by matches against Leicestershire, Yorkshire and Durham, before Derbyshire conclude the group stage against Lancashire, starting on Sunday 6 September.

Head of Cricket, Dave Houghton, said: “All of the players and coaches are glad to be back playing competitive cricket.

“It’s been a challenging time for all clubs, their players and supporters, but we’ve been training hard using the excellent facilities at Repton School and we’re ready to go.

“We’ve got a well-balanced squad with a couple of fresh young faces to give us more depth and I’m looking forward to seeing us test ourselves over the next couple of months.”

The Incora County Ground has been selected as the venue for a number of international training camps, as well as a full England Women’s series this summer, meaning Derbyshire will play all matches away from home.

Chief Executive, Ryan Duckett, said: “Although cricket is returning behind closed doors, counties are working hard to ensure supporters have access to their fixtures via live streams and wherever possible, Derbyshire fixtures will be aired on our website.

“England’s international programme is extremely important at all levels and I would like to thank our Members for their understanding of the decision to use The Incora County Ground as a prominent international venue this summer and for their continued support of the club.”

Derbyshire’s Vitality Blast fixtures are due for release in early August, with the competition scheduled to get underway at the end of that month.

A two-day friendly away to Lancashire is scheduled to take place next week, starting on Monday 27 July at Chester Boughton Hall.
