Hide AdPrince had played superbly for his 97 from 163 balls but he became the 20-year-old’s next victim when he edged another swinging delivery to give Taylor a career-best six wicket return although Lancashire went in at tea with a lead of 261 on 242 for 7.
Day Three Lunch
Ashwell Prince and Steven Croft made it Lancashire’s morning after Tom Taylor had taken an early wicket for Derbyshire on the third day of the Division Two match at Derby.
Taylor claimed his third victim of the innings when he trapped Alviro Petersen lbw for nine in the fifth over of the day to leave Lancashire in trouble on 43-4, a lead of only 62.
Derbyshire were in a strong position at that stage but Prince and Croft batted well to keep Lancashire in an absorbing contest with an unbroken stand of 101 in 26 overs.
Prince pulled Shiv Thakor for his sixth four to reach his 50 from 85 balls shortly before lunch and at the interval, Lancashire were 144 for 4, a lead of 163 with the game still in the balance.
