DCCC v LCCC Day 2 Tea: Godleman and Durston lead Derbyshire’s recovery

A fourth wicket stand of 148 between Billy Godleman and Wes Durston led Derbyshire’s recovery before Lancashire’s bowlers hit back strongly in the second session of the Division Two match at Derby.

The pair took the home side to 174 for 3 but Lancashire claimed four wickets to reduce Derbyshire to 229 for 7 at tea, still trailing by 64 behind.

Durston and Godleman rode their luck at times against Peter Siddle but they were starting to dominate the bowling when Durston skied a drive at Simon Kerrigan and was caught at deep mid off for 85 from 102 balls.

Shiv Thakor became the third Derbyshire player to fall without scoring when he edged Tom Bailey to first slip and after Godleman’s 54 over stay ended when he was caught behind cutting at Kyle Jarvis for 76, Steven Croft had Alex Hughes caught off bat and pad in the final over before the interval.
