The club has already secured grant funding of £1.7m following the introduction of the supervisory board at the AGM in 2013 and the subsequent approval of the club’s business plan in June.

There is now potential for additional funding, derived from projected commercial income through ICC global events, which could substantially increase the available pot of money during forthcoming years, perhaps to the region of £4m.

Subject to agreement on a number of issues with Derby City Council, who are the club’s landlords and planning authority, the supervisory board announced its intention at the club’s AGM to recommence ground development planning at The 3aaa County Ground.

The vision remains for a 7,000 capacity outdoor amphitheatre capable of hosting international cricket, concerts and community events.

The development would also include a new media centre, an extended conference centre and upgraded facilities for members and spectators.
