County cricket: On loan Notts star puts Surrey back in the hunt at Derbyshire

Luke Fletcher took three wickets in 15 balls to put Surrey back in the LV County Championship Division Two match against Derbyshire at Derby.

The home side were well placed on 88-1 in reply to Surrey’s first innings 239 until Fletcher was rewarded for an excellent spell from the Racecourse End of the 3aaa County Ground.

He had Ben Slater caught behind off an inside edge for 28 before skipper Wayne Madsen was also taken by the wicketkeeper in Fletcher’s next over for four.

The on-loan Nottinghamshire seamer cut one back to have Chesney Hughes lbw for nought and although Hamish Rutherford marked his championship debut for Derbyshire with a half century off 100 balls, he was caught at first slip off Tom Curran for 59 to leave the home side on 141-5 at lunch.
