House of Fraser has revealed the list of 31 stores set for closure in early 2019. The move will leave just 28 shops still in operation and affect around 6,000 jobs.

The department store chain still needs the approval of 75 per cent of its creditors before the plan (which is part of a rescue deal) can go ahead. The final decision will be made on Friday 22 June.

House of Fraser's flagship store on Oxford Street in London is one of the branches tipped for closure. Edinburgh, Cardiff, Birmingham and Middlesborough will also see the brand disappear from their high streets.

Of the jobs at risk, 2,000 are House of Fraser employees, while 4,000 are brand or concession roles operating within the department store.
