Young walker suffered serious injuries after falling on Mam Tor
A young walker suffered serious injuries after falling from Mam Tor in the Peak District yesterday (Friday, July 17).
The walker is reported to have fallen from ‘substantial’ height off the face of the hill, while a second climber was stranded three-quarters of the way up Mam Tor.
Buxton Mountain Rescue were called to the Peak District at 5.18pm, where they worked with East Midlands Ambulance Serice, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, a doctor and Derbyshire Constabulary to rescue the young injured walker.
The casualty was then put onto a stretcher, with help from the Humberside Maritime and Coastguard Agency and taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital for treatment.

The second walker, who had been stranded up the hill was also saved by the Mountain Rescue team, who strapped them into a rescue harness before they were then hoisted up to the top of Mam Tor, without any injuries.
