Part funded by Sport England, the scheme will result in a completely new ‘village-style’ changing area to replace the existing male and female changing rooms, and the installation of new plant equipment.
The swimming pool will be closed until July 27 while the work is carried out.
High Peak Borough Councillor Godfrey Claff, said: “This is welcome investment which will make a big difference to the facilities at New Mills.
“The new changing facilities will offer greater flexibility with space for families, people with disabilities and those with carers to change together as well as keeping individual cubicles for people who prefer that.”
