Woman treated for serious injuries after Peak District collision

A 31-year-old woman is being treated for serious injuries after an accident on a rural road.

The two vehicle collision, involving a Vauxhall Tigra and a Skoda Superb, happened just after midnight today (Thursday October 23) near the junction with the A6024 on the A628 Woodhead Pass.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a 31-year-old woman who is believed to live in the Nottingham area, is being treated for serious injuries in Manchester Royal Infirmary. Her family has been contacted.

The Skoda driver, who is a 51-year-old man from the Chesterfield area, was taken to hospital in Barnsley. The extent of his injuries is not known at this time but they are not thought to be serious.

The road was closed until 7.30am.
