Meadowhall’s flood barriers are going up after a ‘danger to life’ weather warning was issued for Sheffield.

Heavy downpours are forecast from Tuesday morning until Wednesday night, with the Met Office issuing an amber alert – the second highest level available.

Posting on Facebook this afternoon, Meadowhall, where only essential stores and some cafes and restaurants offering click-and-collect, takeaway or delivery remain open, said: “In line with Sheffield City Council and the amber weather warning, you will see our flood barriers in place simply as a precautionary measure.”
