Walker rescued from Monsal Trail and airlifted to hospital
On Sunday, July 17, Buxton Mountain Rescue team were called away from their fundraising and training to help the male walker from the Buxton area who was climbing in the Water-cum- jolly Dale area and whilst descending after the climb had fallen about 5 metres, sustaining back and wrist injuries.
Friends had walked him back to the Litton Tunnel on the Monsal Trail whilst the team was enroute.

Hide AdAfter treatment at the trail side, the casualty was placed inside a vacuum mattress and evacuated on a mountain rescue stretcher along the trail to Millers Dale Station.
Following a further evaluation by an East Midlands Ambulance Service paramedic it was decided to transport the casualty by air ambulance.
