Planning permission was given to the national hotel chain in December 2014 to build on the former Robin Hood pub site.

Alex said: “Buxton is a fantastic location perfect for those looking to get away and explore the Peak District or those visiting on business, and we are delighted to be here.”

All guests have en-suite king-size rooms and an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet.

Alex said: “We want guests to be rested and well fed so they can go on and achieve their full potential while they are in Buxton.”

The opening of the hotel has created 26 full-time jobs, and all apart from one have been filled by High Peak residents.

Bobby said: “We want to be part of the community and felt it was only right to employ people from within the community.”

The company, which is aiming to open one hotel every seven days and has already opened 5,500 rooms this year, has been working with the job centre through its sector-based work academy to help people back into work.

“Seeing the transformations in people’s confidence is something special,” said Bobby. “One man was very nervous when he started the two-week trial as he had been out of work for a long time, but we interviewed him and we could see his potential and now he is part of our maintenance team.”

The Premier Inn team at Buxton has also been working with the High Peak Volunteer Service to help clear local allotments, and have been seen collecting in the streets in their onesies to raise money for the company’s nominated charity Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Alex added: “We want people to know that we care about this area and want to work with you on projects, and we can’t wait for you to see the hotel.”
