VIDEO: East Midlands Ambulance Service makes a song and dance about the flu jab

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) Lights and Sirens barbershop choir have written a song and created a video featuring the Flu Fighter Faces of colleagues across EMAS.

The flu jab is available free at GP practices or pharmacies to those who are : pregnant, children aged two to four years old, aged 65 and over, people with certain health conditions such as heart problems, chest complaints, breathing difficulties, diabetes, weakened immune system (eg HIV or cancer patients), kidney disease, liver disease, chronic neurological diseases such as cerebral palsy and Parkinson’s, the main carer of an older or disabled person living in a residential or nursing home.

Roger Watson, Consultant Paramedic at EMAS said: “It is important that if you are in one of these groups that you take advantage of the free flu jab. Now is the best time to have it done, before winter really kicks in and the flu virus starts to circulate.

“Flu is caused by a different group of viruses to the common cold and symptoms tend to be more severe and last longer often resulting in people requiring an ambulance if they are having difficulties in breathing.”
