After a badger was found dead in tampered snare in Hayfield Derbyshire Police has issued advice on what to do if you see a damaged trap.
On Monday, April 9 a dead badger was found in snare on farmland and the police has reiterated the message about what to do if you see a snare while out and about.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Rural Crime Team, who made the video, said: "We understand that the use of snares is a contentious issue, however they are used as a way of controlling fox populations and are legal, providing the snare is free running and non-locking.
"Theft or damage to lawfully set snares is a criminal offence and will be investigated. If you do suspect that snares are being used illegally please report this to police via 101 and let us investigate any misuse."
