Witness appeal after A57 crash

A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a crash on the A57 Snake Pass on Saturday afternoon.

The 24-year-old man was riding a red Honda CBR 600 from the direction of Glossop when he was in collision with a grey Skoda Yeti travelling the opposite way.

The accident happened in an area known locally as Rowlee Farm, between the Snake Summit and the Ladybower Inn, shortly at 5.10pm.

The motorcyclist, from the Leeds area, sustained extensive life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield, where he remains in a critical condition.

Two female passengers in the Skoda are also being treated for serious injuries.

The road re-opened at 10.54pm.

Derbyshire police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or either vehicle prior to the accident, to call 101, quoting incident number 658 of July 12.
