Road closures in Derbyshire due to heavy snowfall

Snow has caused traffic chaos on roads in Derbyshire, with several major routes forced to close.

Highway England said the traffic officers are now closing Woodhead Pass due to heavy snowfall.

The road is closed between A616 at the Flouch roundabout and A57 at the Gun Inn Junction near Glossop.

Instead, traffic is advised to cross Pennines via M62. Motorists are also reminded to only travel if it is essential.

The heavy snowfall has also disrupted bus services in Dronfield.

Stagecoach bus said its 43 service is now operating main road only through the town.

Its 43 and 44 services are also diverting main road through Dronfield due to weather conditions.

A Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice in Derbyshire for today.

The warning covers the period between 3pm today and midnight tomorrow as cold air emanating from Russia and Eastern Europe moves across the UK.
